Groupon — BeautyNow Android

GROUPON— BEAUTYNOW ANDROID

BeautyNow on Android was a fast follow to the iOS MVP. Originally, we intended to do a direct port of the iOS designs, but translating the flow to material design allowed me to question & improve upon flow choices made to align with iOS standards.

MY ROLE — Lead Visual/UX Design, Product Strategy, Iconography, Workshop Facilitation, User Research

A NEW BEGINNING—

Android, unlike iOS, does not have a standard screen aspect ratio. The customizability of devices meant having to rethink scalability & contend with things like landscape mode, a far more popular feature on Android. The customizability of devices meant having to rethink scalability & contend with things like landscape mode, a far more popular feature on Android.

GROWING PAINS—

The design took a far more integrated approach to the experience, testing how users respond to the product if it is not distinctly differentiated from core Groupon offerings. It also included use case driven UI optimizations from the highly-differentiated explorations done during the iOS MVP.

The biggest change — Groupon Deals & BeautyNow appointments were now to be co-ranked on Groupon listing pages.

It also gave us the opportunity to reevaluate our post-booking communication. We were able to identify pain points from the iOS launch & optimize to ensure users have the best experience possible at their appointment & encourage repeat use of the product.

STATUS REPORT—

BeautyNow Android & a Mobile Web port launched in fall of 2017 for select markets. Unfortunately, the product was ultimately discontinued in 2019. Womp, womp.
